A Horrible Fate Awaits You, Jeremy Maclin

It's unfortunate that I cannot appreciate this day, but let's face it the NFL Draft has all the trappings of leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Certainly, I am referring to my mancrush for Aaron Curry. He has agreed to a contract with the Lions, which they will use to drive down Matthew Stafford's price, but they will fail. While this does give the Chiefs additional leverage in their pick for trading down, it does not put Curry on their defense which is certainly tragic. However, that is not my main fear of this draft. My main fear is I'm going to have to hate Jeremy Maclin.

As a Missouri Tiger fan, I can say freely that he is the most exciting player ever to wear the black and gold. Hands down, no questions asked. No player will be missed more next season by the Tigers, and they certainly cannot replace such a uniquely talented individual. Not only is he a terrific player, but he is also a remarkably likeable man. I don't see Terrell Owens-syndrome when he gets some experience in the league. So, why must I hate this young man? He is going to be an Oakland Raider.

I know that isn't certain, and it is just as likely that they will draft some unknown project or Usain Bolt with their pick. Al Davis likes to throw deep, and not just sometimes. He would call deep passes on every play if he were coach. Tom Cable isn't going to have any say over who gets picked here, and it will certainly be the fastest WR on the board. The possibility exists that the most NFL-ready reciever Michael Crabtree drops to the Raiders, and they look at him and say how fast is this guy? Then, Davis promptly calls in the pick: Darius Heyward Bey. WTF, Al? But he's not that stupid, we think. They will call Maclin's name, and we will have to watch him run effortlessly as he did in college, and be called out by Al for failing to hustle.

If you believe in God, he couldn't be so cruel to allow for such to happen. Like Winslow, a Missouri player going to a division rival to rub his success in Chiefs fans faces. At least, take Al, to balance out our karmic pain. Luckily, they are Oakland, so this probably will work out poorly for them, and Jeremy as well. Take the money and buy something nice far from Oakland.

Three lessons for Jeremy:
1)Never look Al in the eye
2)Lock your car doors while driving in Oakland
3)Pray against a lockout, because you don't want team control to last for that long
